Ghostly images.

Was a simple process started by standing infront of the camera and as the camera took the photo slowly moved back and stood still against the wall. There was no digital editing applied to this, everything achieved in this photograph was done by adjustments to camera settings.

Q: Why should you use adjustment layers when editing images in PhotoShop, rather than editing in place?
A: The use of making different adjustment layers is you can review your work step by step, you’re able to undo steps easily. If you make a mistake you can go back without undoing everything.
Q: Why did you use the High Pass filter? What does HDR stand for?
A: HDR stands for, high dynamic range. I used the high past filter to try and recreate a HDR look to the photo.
Q: What do the “dodge” and “burn” tools do?
A: Dodge lightens parts of the image, burn does the opposite and darkens the image.
Abstract composition.
This task was challenging, found it hard to find simplistic images so it wouldn’t appear crowded/busy. This is to depict the golden spiral and I feel works well, consists of compositional values such as vertical lines, colour (warm colours of the bottom left image contrasting with the cold harsh colours of the rest of the image). I like the textures throughout this image, especially the smallest central image, the image is blurred and almost looks like smoke.
First ever attempt at photoshop, “Fat Goff!”.
I’ve taken Gene Simmons face and put it on the body of Dawn French. I did this by using the pen tool to cut out Gene Simmons face, dragged onto the layer of Dawn French, lowered the opacity slightly and aligned them to match. I used a soft edged, low opacity eraser to blend the two images and put the fringe back in. I also warped the cheeks of Gene Simmons to cover Dawn’s slightly larger cheeks. I’ve never used photoshop before so everything I’ve done today I have learned from fresh. They’re all techniques I’ll be able to apply to future work.
Composition - Symmetry
Taken to depict a compositional value, symmetry. Fairly basic but not 100% accurate. To take this shot again, I’d spend more time lining the content of the photo up to make sure they were more symmetrical, if possible. This image isn’t one of my favourites or one I particularly like but it clearly depicts symmetry, some what.
Vertical lines.
A shot to display a simple rule of composition, “vertical lines”. I attempted to follow the rule of thirds but didn’t quite take it into consideration when taking this shot. The focus of this photo would be the metal bar to the left, instead of being centered. If I was to take this again I’d attempt to make the vertical lines more parallel and centered.
At work.
Project set to take images to depict captions given. This particular photo was to create the caption, “at work”. Although it would not be directly associated with work, the subtle hint is what I liked most about this shot. I enjoy the pastel colours of the flowers and the slight reflection (also a topic needed to be covered). I like how the woman has been framed by the edges of the flowers, contrasting with the sharp straight line of the window display. If I was to change anything within this, I’d probably try and lighten the woman so she was more of a focus within the image.
